CLion : Gnome shortcup : impossible to "Add to favorites"

Hi,

My CLion version is 2016.1.2

Gnome proposes a vertical bar (the dash) with a list of favorite applications.

The usual way to add favorites to that bar is

1 - launch the app

2 - The application's icon appears in the Dash (the dash shows all running application additionally to the favorites)

3- right click on the icon and select 'add to favorites'

But for an unknown reason, it does not work for CLion. The CLion icon appears but the choice "add to favorites" is not present in the menu.

It works well for any other applications . (For instance pyCharm)

Hi Arnaud.

Sorry, I didn't understand what Dash you mean. Could you please attach a screenshot how it looks like for PyCharm?

Hi Anna,

The problem reported by Arnaud has not been fixed in CLion 2017.1. I attached screenshots you asked for. They were taken on Debian Jessie.

Based on them one can notice the following issues:

  • CLion icon is not scaled correctly
  • CLion integration with the Activities bar does not offer actions "New Window" and "Add to Favourites"

Same problem here, using Redhat 8.2. Please provide a workaround and fix.

Thanks

Michael

If you are starting Clion from the script clion.sh then you cannot add it to favorite. Instead you need to add a "desktop entry" first. Open Clion then go to Tools->Create Desktop Entry...

Then close Clion, and search for it in your applications. Once you open it through the Clion "icon" instead of the script, you should be able to add it to favorites.
