Editor became quite slow
I am pretty much upgrading to every EAP build that comes out, and I noticed that after upgrading to a build that was released before 7.0.3 (I don't remember which one exactly), the editor became quite slow. In particular scrolling became much slower. For instance, a "page down" used to instantaneous, but it now takes maybe half a second.
I am on Mac, and changed the default font for the editor; not sure if this can be related to the issue I am seeing. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've logged several bugs on 7.0.x editing performance -- it's unusable in some cases, and I've resorted to using other editors for those files.

Anders,
I am not sure I have been hitting exactly the same problem, but it is good to know that others also have performance problems with the editors. I hope we'll not all end up using TextMate or similar!

I found what was causing this: a custom font.
A while ago I changed the font used in the text editor from Monospaced to Lucida Sans Typewriter. It worked great for a while and then caused the editor to become slow like a dog. I switched back to Monospaced, and now everything is back to normal. Hurray!

Now that's a first. I've seen many things affect editor performance, but that's the first time I hear a font caused slowness. I'm always using fonts other than Monospaced (ProggyClean and Envy Code R being my favorites), and while I can't say I'm happy with the performance level I get, I don't see any improvements when I change to Monospaced.
I would gladly switch to Dingbats for these files, if it would help the performance ;)
May the font is only affecting the performance on Mac OS X?
