Cannot close or switch projects in IDEA 12

I installed IDEA 12 yesterday and have run into a strange problem. I cannot close the application or change projects.

When I attempt to close either a project or the application, IDEA 12 will index the files then do nothing. I can forcibly close the application but this has been enough of a hinderance that I've gone back to using 11.

This is a completely vanilla installation with no third-party plugins or changes. Looking at the idea.log file, I see an exception describing the following: (I replaced my actual documents path with <user_docs>)

I see the file and it contains data.

I have tried quite a few things but neither my efforts or searches online have yet to yeild results.

I'm not entirely clear on how to submit a bug, if this is even a bug.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome
