High cpu usage with intellij 11.1.5

Normal editing in intellij is making the UI unresponsive. Looking into the task manager I saw the cpu usage shoots up every time I try to write java code.
Attached are 30 thread dumps I took to help troubleshooting the issue.

Kindly let me know what could be causing this.
