The Selena release isn't planned for a while yet, either.

It's possible, and feels like it runs noticably faster, however I've been getting exceptions and IDEA doesn't always repaint properly when it gains focus. Possibly something to do with my dual monitor setup, not sure exactly but I'll probably go back to 5. Of course your mileage my vary...

OK, but what about the EAPs? If Mac users were unable to evaluate the EAPs, I think that would be bad.
Sure, but isn't this an issue that should be taken up with Apple/Sun and not Jetbrains?

You can already get a beta build of JDK 6 for OSX from the Apple developer website (and have been able to for months), so I expect that they will have a release version out before Selena.
It looks like they've gotten on the ball and really are doing a much better job of tracking Sun's releases.

Apple has very clear and well known policies about software releases. They basically boil down to "when we're ready and not a moment sooner".
All I'm requesting is that JetBrains hold off on using JDK 6 specific features in the IDEA EAPs for Selena until Apple releases JDK 6. Note that this is not the same thing as providing support for JDK 6.

If you're bold enough to try IDEA's EAP, you're probably bold enough to try Java SE 6.0 Developer Preview builds, available for download at Apple Developer Connection.

That's our plan. We have a number of Mac users here, so of course we won't break IDEA for them. :)
Hello Amnon,
AG> So, will the next 6.0.x EAP come running on the new JRE natively?
We're planning to upgrade to JDK 6 for Selena. Demetra builds will continue
to be bundled with JDK 5.

Mac + IDEA = bliss

Hi Dmitry,
Do you have an ETA for Selena ? would you say it'll be released in about 3 months? 6 months ? one year ?
Sorry if this question has been asked before...
Is it possible/recommended to run IDEA 6.0.x EAP under the new Java 6?
Thanks,
Calum

I have also noticed that class reloading in the debugger is much slower under jdk 6...
