Window 8 freezes after minutes of starting IDEA 11.1.2

This occurs only on my laptop, and started occuring after unistalling IDEA Community (had Ultimate and CE installed). Windows explorer becomes unresponsive. Switching user (Win+L) works, but unable to log in afterwords. A hard reset becomes necessary. Any only else experiencing this?
