This seems to be the behaviour in php files, since in XML-Files i get
the caret row as i expect it to be.

Hi List,

sorry for this post.
Everything's fine now. There was background-color (#ffffff) set for php
code in php-editor-settings. This background-color for php-code seems to
be on top of the caret row, so that the row dissapears.
