Compiler crashes while "Generating classes.dex" and IDEA stops responding

Please help, something seems to be going wrong with my Android project compilation.

If I restart, the same thing happens. I have no way to diagnose where the problem is. This seems to happen with both IC 10.0 and IC 103.59

Is there any working directory where something might have gotten cached which is corrupted? I deleted the "out" directory but that didn't help.

What exactly do you mean by "crashes"? If you get an error message, please
provide its complete text.
