I can't debug over vpn in intellij 9, I can in intellij 10. Is there a patch?

I have some machines that I can only access over vpns.  When I try to debug them over socket, I can connect to the machine, but I can't hit any breakpoints.  This is with intellij 9.  Other people in my office have confirmed the same problem.

I upgraded to the trial version of intellij 10 and the problem has gone away.  I'm wondering if there's a patch for this bug or if I'll have to upgrade to intellij 10 to fix this problem.
