IDEA memory settings in 3177?

Now that idea.lax is apparently not used any more--none is installed by
the new Windows installer--where do we customize IDEA's memory settings,
etc.?

Ooops...

Try launching idea.exe -J-Xmx]]>M as a temporary solution.

Does this also apply to Linux?

no, you can change it from the command line on Linux by editing the idea
startup script, same with OS X, windows is a different beast since it
has an executable.

What about the other lax settings, like:

-Didea.system.path="..
system"
-Didea.config.path="..
config"

Can they be applied to the commandline also? I have tried several ways, but without luck...

I cannot work with Irida when it stores the working cache in my user.home folder (Documents and Settings), due to heavy network synchronization on startup and shutdown of my pc :(

I hope it will be part of the installation again, to place the Config and System folders under the current installation instead of the user.home folder..
