hg4idea-luciad plugin not recognize repo

Hello, I have an existing Grails project and repo under hg (mercurial) control. I purchased IDEA 9.0 and created a new IDEA project under a different directory by cloning the existing local repo using the hg4idea-luciad plugin. I made some changes but when I went to commit I realized that IDEA does not consider the project under hg control? At the command line running the mercurial command: hg status clearly shows the project is under hg control. The IDEA Verson Control menu clearly will allow me to put the project under hg control but at what cost? What are my options? Please advise, David.
