L&F on Linux
I can't quite believe it, but I too am moving from Windows XP to Linux.
Although it seems to work great, the only thing letting the side down is
IDEA's ugly grey Look & Feel on my gnome desktop. Is there any way to change
the panel background colour? Is anyone using an alternate L&F to those
provided?

Vote for it here :)
And about alternate L&F, IDEA looks QUITE good with the Alloy L&F. It is commercial, however. Take a look at the attached screenshot :)

what a cool naming convention you have ;)
Company-wide standards -- I swear I have nothing to do with this mess (and also most names are meaningful only to portuguese speakers) :P
Btw, which XP Theme is it you are using ?
I'm using WindowBlindbs[/url to customize the Windows look and feel.
Poor me forgot to close the link tag :P

Ahh thats better....
To enable Metouia Look & Feel:
1. Download metouia.jar (http://mlf.sourceforge.net) and place it in
IDEA/lib
2. Put the following lines in swing.properties in IDEA/jre/lib:
swing.installedlafs=Metouia
swing.installedlaf.Metouia.class=net.sourceforge.mlf.metouia.MetouiaLookAndFeel
swing.installedlaf.Metouia.name=Metouia
3. Restart IDEA
4. Go to IDE Settings->Appearance and change the Look And Feel.
I've had a few exceptions while tweaking the Colours & Fonts, but
nothing that made me want to restart.

now that looks cool ;)
I know Metouia but it never crossed my mind that one could use it for idea.
That totally rocks - I've never seen Portuguese variable and class names
before!

"FH" is my favorite.

I tried FH last night, and it immediately crashed IDEA. Sticking with
Metouia for now.
