How EAP-ers will get new builds now ?

I'm sorry if this question was already discussed before but there seems to be a problem without a clear solution for a while: how do EAP-ers will be notified about new builds and how will they get them ? Any new EAP cycle ?For example, an "Ability to Diff on structure view" was added in build 2000 (http://www.intellij.net/tracker/idea/viewSCR?publicId=12535) and I'm sure many of us will want to try it out asap ..

Thank you !

Not mentioning the fact that the latest build number was switched to 1665 and the only indication of it were posts of those who happened to install it not yesterday but today.

Build 2000 (typo?)

Build 1665 (don't you mean 1165?).

But I agree, why don't JetBrainers continue to post in the EAP Announcements forum every time a new 4.0 build is released? Until then I'll download every day just in case it proves to be a new build!

Best regards,

the only diff, it seems from searches, that 1165 just has a
documentation correction.

2000 is the (future) first build of EAP for 4.1. You will definitely be
notified when that EAP will start - I think in a month or so.

give us a build atleast once in a week

Or simply change the build number in "About" box every once in a while (describing the non-existing changes as "Bugfixes") so that we'll feel upgraded anyway ..

Nice idea, a placebo build. Then we can have threads discussing what we
think has been changed between builds (and complain about how things used to
be faster during the Aurora EAP :-).

You aren't really that new here that you don't know how it works. After the release there is always a bigger pause - normally about two months if I remember correctly.
In that time the Jetbrains people work on hard stuff that changes the core of IDEA. The builds of that time are possibly quite unstable and they would probably only get "Build XXXX is totally unusable" postings. So they don't start a new EAP until the builds are stable enough.

No, in fact I joined EAP only in Aurora phase so I had no idea how does it's "end" and "transition period" look like. But thank's for clarification, of course.

Besides, my reply was mostly ironic, of course :) Talk about hunger strike ...

The other reason for the pause is probably to force the cheapskates to
buy a license after freeloading off the EAP for 8 months.

Downloading idea40 today brings back build 1167.
Sounds like a good enough Donut Build to me :)

This can be easily avoided with not providing EAP licenses for the next
month so only people with "real" licenses can work with these builds.
