copy paste quit working - argh!

I'm on OS X, 8.01 and all of a sudden copy/paste quit working.  Both the keystrokes and the menu don't work.  No error, just doesn't do anything.  Restarting IJ doesn't help.

any ideas?

going back to 8.0 solved the problem.  something funky about 8.0.1 i guess.
