Shouldn't it be nice to have the ability to close editor tabs by double
clicking to them. Or it can be an option in editor control.
No, it's already possible to close it through CTRL-click, Ctrl-F4 and context-menu-close. Three possible ways... And AFAIK, there's a proposition to assign the double-click to Full-screen mode, which is IMHO a good idea.

There also is a request somewhere to link this action (close tab) to right-click. I would find this handy, as the right-click is unused, 1-key, and just under the thumb (on my laptop keyboard).

Shift-Click, not Ctrl-Click.
It's also possible to close using middle-click, and via File -> Close Active Editor...
So, five ways?

On a laptop,
- there is no middle button
- ( ) is less easy to access than on a big keyboard.
=> double (or ..) makes sense, especially as it is
currently not used.

Right click shows the context-menu of the editor tab !!!!
