Improvement of tool window buttons appearance

The tool window buttons (TODO, Run etc.) don't look right. I think the reason while they don't is the underlining of the mnemonic. ? think it would look better if those mnemonics would be printed in a bold font and not be underlined. Then the text of the button could be aligned with the icon and maybe they would lose some one or two pixels in height.
Now the text of the buttons pushed to the top of the button and so the top of the buttons look crowded while in the bottom there is only this underline. What do you think?

I like the way the buttons currently look (although interestingly, it's
the exact opposite of what you describe -- my underline is pushed to the
bottom of the button and there is a space on the top). Except for the
underline, everything looks centered properly to me.

Gotta respectfully disagree Robert. Mnemonics are always underlined...(at least on a Windows platform). Maybe Macs and Linux use the bold technique?

In general though, the buttons which previously looked as though they took too much space and inspired an uproar, now look squished. It's minor and we'll get used to it, but if I had a choice I'd add a pixel of spacing above and below the text.

The new menus, on the other hand are HUGE. Are we expecting an influx of visually impaired programmers?

And did you notice that the Window menu uses spacing inconsistent with the Run menu?

I suppose that it will a be problem if you are using bold font in the
IDE windows.

Yeah, I know this because I'm using Windows here. I think it's the same with Windows and MacOS.
But the buttons don't look right to me. Those underlines look out of place here - that's my feeling about them at least.

Don't know what you mean with this. I can only choose the font but not whether it shall be normal, bold, italic or whatever.
Hmm, I found out now that IDEA took "Lucida sans Unicode" as the IDE font. Is there a reason for this. I changed to Tahoma and now the buttons look better. Somehow the font metrics for the Lucida font made them look strange and the underline was miles below the mnemonic. Now it's directly below it and it looks quite good now.
So: forget it. Seems it was a strange font problem here.
The indentation in the context menu looks still weird, though.

I hate the new menus. They are simply too big for comfort.

So change the font in the IDE settings then. Seemed fine to me, however I
did make them a bit smaller ( 10 point instead of 12 )

It seems to me that it's not the font(the default font for IDEA 3 and aurora are tahama 11). But menu items are having more blank space between them.

Maybe menuitems without a visible icon have a transparent icon, that is too
large?
