Build 692 on MacOSX install fails

Hi,

I downloaded the MacOSX installer 692 and ran StuffitExtractor on it. The archive apears to be a zip archive rather than a StuffIt archive. Is this correct? (The extension is .sit not .zip)

When I try to run the extracted installer the icon bounces in the bar for a while and that's it. No UI is displayed.

I'm running Java 141 DP8 on MacOS X v10.2.3. The machine is a TIBook with 512 Meg ram.

I have the same config as you, but I didn't encounter any issues installing from the .sit file. Basically it extracted everything out to a install application on my desktop and I ran that and everything installed just fine.

Did installer print anything to console?

I had this same problem. Did your try deleting the old idea application completely before installing? This is what worked for me.

Just to let everyone one know I managed to get things working. I updated to DP9 and install ran and completed OK.

Under DP8 if I went to install.app/Contents/MacOS and ran install script the installer would start, print a bunch of stuff untill it got to the line:

setting UI to

and stop. (I think that was the line.)

I am also seeing the issue where the UI seems to freeze. It appears that when there is some kind of focus change the AWT event thread for the window gets lost/disconnected. I think idea is finishing the operation but no paint events are making it to the UI. Or possily the MacOS Window event thread is getting detached from the window. Minimizing and restoring the window seems to fix it but idea changes focus a lot and I find myself minimizing and restoring idea constantly. I'd guess that this is Apple's bug. Is anyone at Intellij working with folks at Apple?
