PHPStorm 8 hidpi settings

So this snippet is scattered all across the internet to enable HiDPI support for phpstorm 8

-Dis.hidpi=true

So far I have not managed to get this to work. I have put this in the phpstorm.exe.vmoptions file and tried running phpstorm with and without scaling.

In other words, how do I get this to work, if at all possible, on my windows 8.1 machine with a 3200x1800 screen
