All of a sudden, can't click and open any files, all are grey'd out

Earlier this week, everything was fine.  No issues.  

Then all of a sudden today, I open Pycharm (Build #PY-241.18034.82, built on June 24, 2024) to see all the files are grey named.  

I can't click on any of them and get them to do anything.  They won't load in the editor window and I noticed all directory icons have changed from the usual plain folder icon to a folder with arrow pointing up to the right.   

I tried deleting the .idea folder and opening fresh after Invalidating Caches but that had no effect.  I checked and made sure the top folder is set to Source.  The files are on One Drive but they have always been on One Drive.  I setup a OneDrive link to the long, space riddled, path that Microsoft uses by default and use that link to load the files.  I've been using this setup all year and no issues until today. 

Any one have any ideas or suggestions on what the issue could be?    This is on Windows11 Enterprise v10.0.22621 Build 2261.
