File Type icons

I write using standard .php files, nothing special about the filename, extension, context or contents.

Yet I get so many file marked as .phpt with the phpt logo.

1) why?
2) does it make any difference?

I have regular php files in my project, and they all get the icon for either .phpt or for classes (c in a circle).

None are marked as .php files.

Hi Pete Clark,

Which file name patterns are defined in Settings | Editor | File Types for both PHP and PHPT file types? Please share two screenshots so all the patterns are visible.

I can't see how to share screenshots here. Is it possible?

It is surely possible (see the screenshot below). Also – simple Ctrl+V (Paste) works as well.

Thanks, I missed the icon…

Pete Clark, please navigate to Settings | Editor | File Types > PHP and make a screenshot of the File name patterns window like this:

Perfrom the same for the PHPT File Type and share both screenshots.

Ah, the small red box is a new one to me.

Thank you for sharing screenshots!

Your IDE is working perfectly fine ☺️ The issue lies with the File Types menu itself, where an incorrect icon is being used for PHP files. This icon is from the “old” UI and hasn’t been replaced properly yet.
This will be fixed in the scope of the following issue: WI-80273. You can upvote it on YouTrack to stay updated with the progress.

Thank you for the clarification
