Where is the modal commit UI gone? 😱😱😱

After updating to latest EAP (#IU-251.20015.29) I got the separate commit tool window that I hate so much.
I did not notice anything in the release notes regarding this, so I still have a glimmer of hope that this is a bug.
Also, the settings seem to have changed massively. Now there is a gigantic list of miscellaneous “Advanced Settings” in a separate tab, instead of being nicely sorted where they belong.
I found this one, but all it does is move the non-modal UI to the “Git toolwindow”.
I want my modal UI back! Pleeeeeeaaaaaase

With the option to toggle the "Commit"-Controls", I can get close to the original UI.
I'll try and get used to it.
All in all, I still think it is a step backwards in terms of usability and productivity.
That's a very annoying (and stupid) decision !
