What bloatware made WebStorm 1GB in size?
I've just downloaded the latest EAP, and it's a scary 1 GIGABYTE large. ZIPPED.
What in the world is in there? The size DOUBLED from two years ago. Do we really need all that junk?
For example, why are three CJK plugins bundled instead of being downloadable like other plugins? Even developers speaking one of those languages will only need ONE of them, not all THREE. While the rest of the world needs none of them, but hosts them all pointlessly.
And while we're at it, why not bundle Romanian too? I feel discriminated against. </sarcasm>

That's just one example. More bundled plugins out of which one is used would be git vs. Subversion vs. Mercurial, or Sass vs. Tailwind etc. Most developers don't use most plugins, yet they're all bundled.
Besides plugins, what other stuff went into WebStorm to make its size follow Moore's law?
Please restore some sanity into this IDE. WindSurf is 5x smaller.

We include these language packs for an out-of-the-box experience. Also, these plugins only include resource files for translation and are small in size.
We currently only support these language packs and bundle them because we have found much more demand for localized languages in these areas, rather than for English.
The newer WebStorm includes more features and plugins, which significantly increase the installation size.
For example, the latest WebStorm bundles the database feature, which uses more than 140 MB and Full Lines Completion plugin requires 300 MB because it includes AI models for offline use.
We have a related request that you could vote for which advises to manage bundled plugins as downloaded plugins to no longer have them: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IJPL-35312/Manage-no-more-bundled-plugins
1 GB sounds like a dream, just the base installations of JB IDEs with bundled plugins on my computer are using almost 26 GB…
I don't know why I need a 150 MB “DataGripHelp” plugin, or a 150 MB “DatabaseTools” plugin duplicated across multiple IDEs when I'm only using it in maybe 3 of them. And sure, the language packs are relatively small by themselves, but times 8 IDEs that's half a GB!
Just let me uninstall bundled plugins. Maybe some deduplication would also help for bundled plugins or the ReSharper libraries that are shared between multiple IDEs, but that would probably be more complicated than just letting me delete the bloat.

Daniel Chýlek I have created a bug report for this case: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/DBE-23021 (Consider not bundling DataGripHelp plugin in DataGrip)

Currently, this is not possible because each IDE version might be different and sharing the same plugins can cause some incompatible issues.
