My project files are missing after IDE uninstallation.

Recently, I reinstalled Windows and obviously format the old windows partition where the intellij IDE was kept. But the project files were on separate partition. After I reinstall Windows, JetBrains toolbox and Intellij IDE the project folder was available but the project files were missing. Why? There were files relating to my portfolio and assignments.

Do you mean the project files are missing from the IDE project tree or missing from the local file system for good?
Also, if the disk partition where the IDE was installed was formatted(meaning the all the contents are wiped out), how come the previously installed IDE is still available? Could you please elaborate on it?
