Where has the Merge Cells option gone?
I've just updated Pycharm professional to 2025.1 and now I cannot find the option to merge Jupyter Notebook cells. I used to be able to right click on a cell and I would get options to merge with cell above or cell below, now all I can do is split the cell. What am I missing?

Hi there
Thank you for raising this
I can replicate this behaviour and referring to our documentation this menu item should still be available in 2025.1 therefore I have raised this as a bug:
https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/PY-80641/Merge-cell-above-below-not-showing-when-right-clicking-on-a-Jupyter-cell
Please follow and upvote the above youtrack case to raise the priority of this case.
Kind regards
You’re not alone, seems the UI changed a bit in 2025.1. Try using the command palette (Ctrl+Shift+A) and search for "Merge Cells". It should still be available there even if it’s not in the right-click menu anymore.
Thank you both!
This still isn't fixed!
Hi W1a04
Sorry which build are you testing ?
This is included in the latest 2025.2 RC
Next week 2025.2.0 is planned for release in case you would not like to use the RC version.
Kind regards,

Hello, Bagibagi700 ,
The bugfix PY-80532 is available in the 2025.2 version. Could you please check if the issue is still present in the 2025.2 version?
You can install this version via Toolbox App, which is our tool for managing IDE instances.
