MacOS View Mode
macOS: 15.5 (24F74)
RubyMine 2025.1.1
My projects are opening in Full Screen mode. This puts them on a different desktop. Navigating between desktops means windows sliding on and off screen. It also means that a window on my second display, opened while in one project, disappears when I change to another project.
This is, at best, distracting, and at worst, difficult.
The documentation says I can switch between Viewing Modes from the project - but I would like to be have a default mode which is not Full Screen.
If what is happening is an OS thing, rather than a Jetbrains thing, my apologies. I have explored System Settings, and unset anything that is related to “messing around with windows”, but no luck so far.
Many thanks,
Anita Graham
I have a uploaded screen shots of the desktop display (Fn-F3) before and after opening a second project. (Upload ID: 2025_06_02_bubkSxkuPjVhr51C9auBGS)

Anita sorry for not getting back to you that long. It seems there is no way to tell the IDE to always open a new project in a window mode. From what I see, currently, it works as follows:
Could you please confirm you were talking about the second scenario? If so, does it help if you exit the full screen in your newly opened project? You can do it via the main menu View > Appearance > Exit full screen or by clicking the green window control button in the upper left window corner. After that the project should remember its windowed state.
I will double-check with the responsible team if the current behavior is as expected, just want to be sure I understand your scenario correctly. Thank you in advance for your collaboration!
