Why JetBrains should develop official Elixir support (IDE or plugin)
We would like to suggest that JetBrains either develop an official IDE for Elixir or provide formal support for the language in its existing platforms.
The current plugin is third‑party maintained, suffers from major bugs, frequently crashes with recent IntelliJ versions, and lacks key features like a debugger, reliable autocomplete, mix‑project import, and EEx/HEEx template support.
We’ve seen consistent reports of incompatibility with 2024 IDE releases, interference with performance, and lack of ongoing maintenance.
Meanwhile, the ElixirLS extension for VSCode has exceeded 650,000 downloads, demonstrating the level of community interest.
We believe official support from JetBrains would foster innovation, increase adoption of Elixir in the market, and significantly improve the experience for your paying customers.

I know, but the original post was written about 11 years ago. The last comment was about 12 months ago, and VSCode remains the best option for Elixir devs.
The Elixir community is growing like never before. JetBrains could consider this and develop an official tool for us.
Please do, I love Jetbrains, and it would be so good to have Elixir specialised IDE, in fact I think you could collab with 3d party plugin maintainers and build on top of that, it's just it seems they don't have much time to keep up with you, we need such IDE, especially now as GLEAM becomes popular as well, and keep in mind it's not only about Elixir but Erlang as well, which is quite used even now.
I'd like to add to this - the current plugin that supports Elixir/Erlang is having a lot of trouble keeping up with IDE changes. A dedicated IDE for Elixir would be amazing!
