You can download the free version here: https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download/other.html After downloading PyCharm, you’ll get a free one-month Pro trial with full functionality. The Pro trial will automatically end after 30 days, and PyCharm will continue to work with the free features.
We’ll keep the open-source parts of the PyCharm codebase on GitHub up to date and open for everyone, and update them regularly. To make it easier for the community, we will provide GitHub Actions so anyone can build their own version from the source code. These builds will include only the open-source parts, just like the original PyCharm Community Edition.
I installed PyCharm 2024.3.6, and after the initial 30-day trial expired, it completely stopped working and asked me to purchase a license. Later, it somehow granted me another 30-day trial, but now—after a total of 60 days—it has stopped working again. I’ve tried reinstalling PyCharm and installing other versions, but nothing has helped. I also can’t install a newer version because it requires a Windows update, which I’m not allowed to perform. Please help!
Yes, I can confirm it: after 30-days trial period the IDE force quitted, I can't work with my projects, because I have 3 choices:
1. Trial (it's already completed);
2. buy licence;
3. quit from the IDE.
I don't have a choose “switch IDE to community vesrion”
p.s. I just remove the old IDE (unfortunately i didn't remember the version of IDE) and reinstall the RC version through the JetBrains Toolbox (2025.3.2); and when I started this, it got me a choose to work without subscription.
I want to download pycharm-community-2022 or 2021, but can not find download link in this page: https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download/other.html. For example after click 2022.3.3, linux(tar.gz), I get “pycharm-professional-2022.3.3.tar.gz”, not community version.
If you're trying to use PyCharm Community Edition, make sure you're downloading the correct unified version since JetBrains has changed how licensing works recently.
Also, reinstalling won’t reset the trial, so it’s better to directly switch to the free features instead of trying different versions repeatedly.
In general, platforms that clearly separate free and premium features tend to avoid confusion similar to how other environments handle access and customization, where users explore different options like roblox mod unlimited robux in more flexible setups.
Hi Tbatool873
Please find the community edition download link here:
https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download/other.html
Kind regards,
Don't be surprised if it says "trial version" at the top. After the 1 month free trial, it will automatically switch to the community version.
Hi I want to install pycharm community
Hello, Aminbrac1989 ,
You can download the free version here: https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download/other.html
After downloading PyCharm, you’ll get a free one-month Pro trial with full functionality. The Pro trial will automatically end after 30 days, and PyCharm will continue to work with the free features.
Alternatively, it is also possible to build your community version from our GitHub repo https://github.com/JetBrains/intellij-community/tree/master/python. As it is mentioned in the article:

Assel K2011, could you please clarify what you mean by “stopped working” after the trial ended?
Which features were you using at that time (for example, Django, database tools, scientific tools, etc.)?
Just to clarify as well: reinstalling PyCharm or switching versions does not reset the trial period - that behavior is expected.

Can I use Jupyter notebook package in when the trail converts to PyCharm Community Edition?
Hi Dipitj1989
You can make use of Jupyter Notebooks in the new unified Pycharm (free version - previously PyCharm Community Edition)
Here the full features available in Pycharm Pro vs PyCharm

Hi Yatoulianhai
The distribution of PyCharm Community Edition has been terminated so we do not provide it anymore.
May I ask for which purpose you need an older community edition version ?
The new unified edition version offers all the community edition features for free (plus jupyter notebook support)
Kind regards,
Ervis Velika, an older Community Edition version is needed for plugin testing.
These statistics (for Ultimate) show that many users use older versions:

Chaubinh8305 ,
Could you please clarify what plugin are you are using?
If you're trying to use PyCharm Community Edition, make sure you're downloading the correct unified version since JetBrains has changed how licensing works recently.

Hope that helps clarify things a bit.

You can download and build the community edition by yourself - we have it available on Github - https://github.com/JetBrains/intellij-community/tree/master/python#running-pycharm
