Custom tags using [] and [/]

Hello, I have HTML code mixed with wordpress custom shortcodes. Here is an example:

<i> [custom_shortcode] some text [/custom_shortcode] </i>

How can I set "[custom_shortcode] ..... [/custom_shortcode]" as my custom tags so this part of code is correctly highlighted (same way as custom html tags).
