Extend Drupal support to .theme files

Drupal 8 uses .theme files extensively and within those, implements hooks the same way as has been the case for .module files. 

With .module files, I am getting nice code hinting, relevant icons in the left margin, etc. 

However, with .theme files; nothing.

I DO have the file association established... I think...
