Just to sync IntelliJ setting, we need to install another 75.5 mb Toolbox software?! Isn't it too demanding?

Syncing is normal cloud support. Not much data is used for it when it comes to IDE.

I wonder why users have to install another piece of software when another Gigantic over RAM consuming software is already installed (i.e IntelliJ Ultimate Edition) just to 'sync' the setting?

I wonder how many users to this length. Do JetBrains teams think all user have flagship laptop with tons of RAM or something like that? This is not user-friendly behavior.

I really think this feature should be integrated inside IntelliJ without increasing its size if possible. This seems overated.

Do I need to 'feature request' this?

Distro: Ubuntu 19.04

Hello,

Thank you for raising this question. You are right there: the necessity of the ToolBox for syncing the settings is the point to discuss.

Here is related YouTrack item:

I have copied your opinion inside.

Feel free to watch it in order to be notified once it has updates. See this article if you are not familiar with YouTrack.

Please note that the ToolBox app could be removed once you synced settings for the first time. So, there is no need to keep it running. Just install both apps(IDE and ToolBox),  log in to your JetBrains account, sync settings, and remove ToolBox app if it is not convenient for you to keep it installed.
