Hotkeys to toggle active tool windows
Hi,
I'm trying to modify the hotkey to toggle an active terminal window to be similar to toggling the run window with cmd + 4. For the run window, if I press cmd + 4 it will open the window, and if I press it again it will close the window.
I'm having a hard time replicating that functionality when I set a new hotkey for the terminal tool window. I've used the key map settings to set the terminal keymap to cmd + 3. When I press this it successfully opens the terminal, however upon the second press it does not close the window.
Is there a way to get the behavior that I want with the existing setup?
Thanks!

works for me. Does the default terminal shortcut (Alt + F12) toggle it? Also, does disabling Override IDE Shortcuts in Settings | Tools | Terminal make any difference?
so I realized that in other webstorm projects the hotkey toggle was actually working fine, closing the project in question and re opening it has resolved the issue I was experiencing
Does anyone have another solution to this? Other than reopening the project, I mean. I got my project all set up with Jira Serves configured, branching defaults and so on ... all of that would be gone if I had to start the project all over again (which is a pain in itself).
Toggling the tool windows works fine in one project of mine, but not in the other ... kinda annoying, tbh.
Many IntelliJ users struggle with efficiently switching between tool windows and the editor, especially when juggling multiple panels like terminal, run, or project views. The built-in shortcuts like Escape and F12 help a lot once you get used to them. Small workflow optimizations like this can really improve productivity, similar to how simplifies complex calculations into clear, structured results.
