Springboot integration: Unable to run app as Springboot application

Running application as Springboot application doesn't work, leads to lot weird bean dependency issues.
I have project configured as Gradle project.
Same app, when bundled as jar works fine when ran as jar application.
It's getting tougher to continue, seems like need to go back to STS

Is it possible to provide sample project example for investigation? Do you use Gradle or IDEA as runner in "Settings/Preferences | Build, Execution, Deployment | Build Tools | Gradle"
