Stop closing debug/console on error

Intellij always closes the debug or console window when there was an error. How can i fix that?

Could you please share a video to illustrate the problem? Is there any other tool window that pops up instead? Do you have the tool window in pinned state? It may also depend on the layout for the tool windows that you are using.
Maybe the user is running into the following issue:
If I execute a batch file on Windows which fails the terminal window closes too
