How to run Android Studio on ANY device with JetBrains Projector 关注
since I use it only for a few hours a week for my personal projects, it ends up being quite affordable. Even if I used it for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, it would cost me around $64 / month. Not bad considering I don’t need an expensive laptop anymore.
Out of curiosity, I looked up laptops that would be roughly equivalent to the Amazon instance the author has set up. Asus and Lenovo both make options that are right around $1,000 and pack the same punch. If we assume the instance costs $0.40 per hour, as stated in the article, and is run for 6 hours a day, as would be a good moderate estimate for most people who use it for a job, 5 days a week, 48 weeks of the year, you're paying $576 per year. Essentially, for this setup to make sense, you have to assume that you have a sunk cost in a laptop or desktop that you already like, will use for the next two years, and simply isn't up to the task of developing software on, you will always be developing where you have a strong internet connection, you still need to be mobile, and that if you bought the laptop you would need to be the same value, it would need to be replaced in less than two years.
Not to mention, you can't debug on a real device without going through additional rigamarole.
This honestly seems like a terrible idea for most people.
