Hi there,
Yes, Find in Files popup has Open Files scope as well as Selected Files scope. Just select it.
thx, but i can't find it :(
It is there (PhpStorm 2020.3.3 on Window 10)
1. Make sure that you have at least 1 file opened for Open Files scope to be present (at very least that's what I need to have it there):
2. For Selected Files scope -- you have to invoke it from the Project View panel:
... okay - i found "open files" - thx :) but "select files" is not shown, when "project" view mode is "window". i think, it's a bug?!
it's the newest version ...
Sorry. Do not know what you mean. It is there for me:
Today's EAP build (2021.1 Beta)
You can change the View Mode of a Tool Window from "Dock Pinned" to "Window" (i droped the Project Tool-Windows to my second screen). Then "selected files" are not shown in scope pulldown. In "Dock Pinned" Mode, "selected files" are shown.

Sorry.
Try recording some small screencast. You must be doing something wrong/differently.
I have no account of a screencast-service. Here my screenshots:
second screen: view mode "window"
it's a 2020 version. you have 2021 version!
No. it's 2020.3.3.
2021.1 was used in 1 comment only -- look at the app icon.
You must be doing something wrong / differently.
If you cannot make a screencast then describe what you do STEP BY STEP (in details -- they seem to be important here) after you select files in the Project View panel: what you press / where you click etc.
... okay.
1. change the view mode to "window" (project window)
2. select files
3. navigate to edit -> find -> find in files -> scope
no "selected files"
It's must be a bug. No, "select files" are also not shown in "dock pinned" mode, now :( I can't do anything false - it's very easy to use.
i have to go to bed now ... i will take tomorrow a video ...
good night, andreas
That's the problem :)
Just use keyboard shortcut instead.
... okay - now, i can the see "selected files". but: it's not a consistent behavior. sometimes, it's shown, some times not. i have to close the find windows once again and so on. it's not a consistent behavior, that's not function over the navigation (and there - sometimes it's shown on "dock pinned" mode, sometimes not, in "windows" mode also not). tomorrow, i will check it ;)
thx for your support! sleep weel, andreas
It shows consistent good behaviour for me...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Good morning :)
I found "the bug"!
1. change project-window into "window"-mode
2. select some files (background blue) and ctrl+shift+f -> everything okay
3. select some files, click into the main window (background from the the selected files is grey) and ctrl+shift+f -> no "selected files"
4. select some files, navigate to "find" -> no "selected files"
In "dock pinned"-modus it's make no different ... the bug: JB forget that files are selected in windows-mode.
Kind regards,
Andreas
It's kind of expected as for me: in floating / detached mode the Project View panel becomes a separate window .. and when you use the menu or other elements in another window ... well .. the focus is no longer there but rather in the local Editor.
I'm sure that there is a ticket about it (I remember reading something like that ... few years ago though) ... but feel free to report it to PhpStorm Issue Tracker and devs will manage it further (either find existing ticket .. or will look into it in case if I'm wrong and it never was reported)
I didn't find any report, so i leave one: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/WI-59457
float/window -> no different - the same bug.
