Custom results comparator for FindModel / FindManager

Is there a way to configure the order in which results are displayed by FindManager? I tried looking in FindModel and could not find any way to define a custom comparator. I did find SEARCH_RESULT_FILE_COMPARATOR but it's not clear how to use this to change the order which results are displayed to the user.
