Font and appearance changed after upgrade?!
Today I upgraded to PyCharm 2021.1.2 only to find that the appearance changed. I had to reset the theme but the bigger problem is the font because I have no idea what me previous settings exactly were.
I am using the "High Contrast" theme as you can see. Who decided that it was a good idea to use line spacing and italic font and change that without asking the user?
How can I get my previous settings back?

What version did you use before updating?
PyCharm doesn't change any of these settings unless you were using a default font and it was changed.
To check your previous settings, you can downgrade to the previous PyCharm version. It should automatically pick up the old config folder as we keep it in the system after the update.
I don't know what my previous version was but I don't think was older than 2020.something.something. Whose idea was it to change the default settings? That's like intentionally maximizing the splash radius ..
Sounds like a lot of fun to downgrade PyCharm and then make changes to all the different changes and doing that again whenever I install a fresh version.
We actually changed the default font in 2020.1 so unless you were using an older version, nothing should have changed. See this comment https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360008136379/comments/360001649419
Let's try the following:
1) Back up and remove the config folder for the current version.
2) Start PyCharm so that it re-imports the config from an older version.
Does the issue remain?
Ive noticed at some point ALL of my color schemes font changed to inter regular and its the most horrible font. I dont even think its monospaced.
My fix has been going to each one and manually changing the font, applying it, then resetting back to defaults and applying again.
The edit + reset seems to put them back to their original font again.
