how to setup IDEA to multi-language environment

已回答

Is it possible and if yes, what's the way to setup IDEA to support many different projects written in different languages at the same time ?

The idea: I have one folder which holds cloned repositories from languages like Go, C++, Python, Erlang, Elixir, JS/TS, then there are terraform and helm charts, etc, etc.

All of this must be available in my IDE as one big project where I can do searches across all there repositories at the same time. I've installed many plugins into my IDEA to support these languages, but each time i open python or elixir source files I see complains about unknown files to be imported, unresolved references.

Is there a way to support all this zoo inside one IDE ? After all, that's the modern world,

Open the parent folder as one project and give each language its own SDK or interpreter. Searches across all repositories already work inside a single project (Double Shift, or Ctrl+Shift+F for text).

Unresolved references in Python or Elixir files usually mean that no SDK is assigned to that part of the project. Try this:

  1. Open the parent folder with File | Open.
  2. Go to File | Project Structure | SDKs and add one SDK per language, for example a Python interpreter (Configure a Python SDK) and a Go SDK (GOROOT and GOPATH).
  3. Add each repository as its own module with File | New | Module from Existing Sources (Modules), then assign the matching SDK to that module in File | Project Structure | Modules.
  4. For each Python repository, install its packages into the virtual environment you assigned. Imports of third-party packages stay unresolved until you do.
