IDEA development with perl, print statement with tab character output

Dear all

Has anyone else had any issues with IDEA and the perl print statement? The output in the console window has replaced the \t character with a series of spaces - the program output is to be copied to a spreadsheet and the tab character makes the field delineation easy to specify. I am sure that this *used* to work but it is now annoying me! Am using Community IDEA 2020.1.3, Build #IC-201.8538.31 (July 2020), updated only this morning so (seemingly!) running the latest version
