I don't know if this is related, but there seem to be some quirks with annotators, see http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/IDEA-7128 (which is about XML Files, though)

I'm bringing this up again since Demetra includes new OpenAPI stuff which is not documented at all. I hope this will not be the case again for subsequent EAPreleases ;)

for me they do work in EditorTabs, but not always (same is true for all other views, sometimes IDEA forgets "some" of my provided icons)

if you're using Demetra, you can use IconProvider to override any icon
