Hi, Thomas, in this case you can configure remote Ruby SDK and use Ruby (or other) Run configurations, where environment variables might be specified.

Indeed, it doesn't work with a non RoR app. I've created a corresponding request on our tracker, please vote for it: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/RUBY-18477

Hi, Sebastian, I didn't manage to reproduce the problem. What version are you using? If it's on the last one, then could you please try doing File | Invalidate Caches and restarting IDE.
