As I said in my post: Bash (and everything else) is incuded in the filter.I know the Invalidate Caches option, but I don't want to use that, it wipes out everything, including things I want to keep...

Hi Olga, I use IDEA 2018.3.1 and Ruby plugin v2018.3.20181204 now, but still the same behaviour. I will try the same in a sample project or decide to ignore it. Chris

Hi Yaroslav, For some reason, automatic update check was switched off. I installed the last release and plugins and, as far as I can see now, the problem is over. Thanks.

Addition: I performed 'Invalidate cache and restart', but that did not solve the problem. I cannot remove a quote around a string anymore without freeze. I also restarted the system, but no effect...
