I think it'd be possible to come up with a standard size that all panels can fit into, after all, that's how it worked previously.

I always say no previous settings, and everything works fine. My settings are stored in my home dir.

Note also this this build uses the 'proper' location for IDEA settings, so if you want to re-use your old config, copy the contents of the config dir to ~/Library/Preferences/IntelliJ IDEA
