Hi KirillThanks very much.I checked all my system settings for my local machine and they are in the dd/mm/yy format that i want.  PhpStorm does not seam to apply these settings to the 'Remote Host'...

Thanks Eugene,That works.  I hadn't even noticed the 'edit variables' button on the 'add live templates page'  the button spanned the width of the box and i thought it was a heading for the options...
