I solved the problem by deleting the project and then creating a new project. Things seem to be working okay now.

found the problem with xdebug-remote_host = "10.0.0.38" and corrected it. Things look better but I stil see Debug protocol is not supported Thanks, Dave

Same problem here. Files created in phpstorm and stored on Linux server were then copied (via windows) to USB SSD and then copied to laptop while on vacation. Everything is double line spaced.
