I see the difference. Unfortunately I still see it as being less usable than before. There is not much usability loss on the bundled plugins view. There is more usability loss on the 3rd party plug...

I agree. I submitted a ticket http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-122903. I suspect they'll be replaced relatively soon when the next EAP builds after 135.480 and 135.485 are released.

Yes that location should work but you can confirm where each version of IDEA expects to find plugins, caches and preferences by looking in the /Applications/IntelliJ\ IDEA\ ]]>.app/Contents/Info....
