speaking of branches, is there a way to switch an existing workspace to a branch? Or to see which branch a file is currently on?

If I have a local folder shared, and I map a drive to that share (so I'm mapping a drive, but to a local folder), and I open a project on that mapped drive, will that also affect performance?
