%git.version.commit% seems to be not supported yet. You can submit a feature request to add this at http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/WI#newissue=yes

It's not available out of the box but you can use suggestions from https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-120235 Also feel free to vote for this issue to move it up in a queue

Yes, you need `jayatana` installed. See corresponding thread/comments for info: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-69424#comment=27-1288104 Though some might face an issue with it on Ubuntu ...
