Same issue for me on windows. Removing scala plugin allows intellij to start.

Had the same problem. No log file was written before idea crashed - idea.exe - same error in error dialogidea.bat -Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/intellij/idea/Main...

I don't think there is any key-stroke that does this.I suggest you record a macro (Tools menu) to perform this action (Home, Up, Enter) and assign a key-stoke to this macro (Settings, Keymap).
