IDEA still behaves really really poor with large XML files. Even files in the 500K..1Mb range causes mondo problems. Parsing takes several seconds and if there's anything anywhere in them that IDEA...

I tend to make such methods static and then move them off to helper classes. There's currently a 'Make Method Static'-refactoring, and you can move static members.Not suggesting that your proposal ...
